Bug Hotel

Bug Hotel

7th May 2019

The Estates Team hosted Ambleside School, year groups 3 and 4 joined us for a day of fun-filled activities, creating ‘bug hotels’ (a habitat for bugs) to be placed in various locations around the estate. The day started with a short eco-tour of the site, giving the group an introduction to hydro-electric power. The children then took part in a bug hunt in the woodlands, exploring what kind of bugs live in what kind of habitats. Working with the estate team and garden volunteers, the school group built five bug hotels, using a variety of habitat materials collected from the woodlands. Come and take a walk around our woodlands and see if you can spot one, the handy work of the Ambleside school group.
