Rydal Hall European Community

Rydal’s resident community is made up of young people from across Europe who come to live and work with us and experience communal living in a Christian environment.

Currently we have community members from Poland, Hungary, Spain, Italy and England. Many join us for six months to a year or come to work short-time for the summer. Accommodation is on-site with each member having their own bedroom in a chalet with a shared bathroom. A living area and kitchen is in a separate chalet for all the community to use.

Community members work in three departments, front of house, housekeeping and tea-shop. There are opportunities to go to English classes in the local area as well as church services at the local Baptist church. Also available are Anglican, Catholic and Evangelical services.

We have a dedicated community chaplain who is responsible for the practical and emotional needs of our community members. She also organises social events on a regular basis and can help community members link into different activities in the local area.

Time spent on Rydal community gives a chance to enjoy the beautiful Lake District, form friendships with people from different countries and to explore faith in a supportive environment. It is an experience that can enrich, bless and give wonderful memories that last.
