Guided walks with Steve Watts

During your stay at Rydal Hall why not explore this now UNESCO World Heritage Site with Steve Watts our resident Lakeland Guide?

Offering a Bespoke Service to our Guests or Groups.

Steve will share his knowledge gained over thirty-five years. He will show you the Lake District’s hidden gems from waterfalls to caves to summiting a mountain and sharing one of the best panoramic views in the world.

Your walk will commence at reception, after a short briefing we begin our journey by visiting Rydal Hall Gardens & Estate, at the same time you will learn all about the local people and their pastimes such as hound trailing & fell running, our walk then continues along the “Coffin Route” an easy to moderate walk to the tranquil shores of Grasmere.

For those more adventurous we then make our way to the Summit of Loughrigg for a view that will simply take your breath away!

Our journey ends with a Certificate of Achievement Presentation in the Rydal Old School Room Tea Shop nestled by the side of Rydal Beck.

Returning to Rydal Hall for a well-earned dinner!
