Sculpture Trail in the Lake District

Sculpture Trail in the Lake District

26th February 2020

Take a short but fascinating walk through our grounds to discover a wide selection of sculptures.

Things to look out for

Textile Art Our resident artist Dianne Standen focuses on using recycled and sustainable materials in her work. She manages to blend her work into the natural surroundings of the Lake District and highlights the organic movement of water and air.

Wood and Stone Search for wood art amongst the trees – perhaps you will find a giant insect! Look out for the angel Raphael in the Quiet Garden. The angel was carved by Shawn Williamson, a memorial piece to a previous sculpture that once stood in its place.

Metal Visit the ‘Man in Chains’ a thought-provoking metal sculpture inspired by the economic struggles of the third world. This sculpture was elaborated in partnership by Keith Weston and Neil Powell.

Tea Shop Warm up after your walk in our Tea Shop, with the sound of the crackling fire and friendly service you’ll be taken by the beautiful view of the beck. We also have numerous art pieces on display from various local artists, these pieces are up for sale and changed every 2 months.

Should you wish to go out for an enjoyable stroll, we are located a short 5 minute walk from Rydal Water overlooked by Nab Scar.
