Christmas House Party 2019

Christmas House Party 2019

26th December 2019

During our latest Christmas House Party Amanda and our hosts, Martin and Rita, invited all resident guests and community members of staff to join in their organised events over the four festive days. These included listening to the Kendal Brass Band who played a selection of Christmas carols, wine and sherry receptions, a walk to Ambleside and evenings full of fun of games, including a Dickensian evening where guests looked the part. There was also plenty of time for personal reflection in the chapel and to absorb the beauty of Rydal around the estate in the ever-evolving Sculpture Path, Quiet and Formal gardens.

We also enjoyed the more traditional elements of Christmas; the Queen’s speech, a delicious home-cooked turkey dinner with all the trimmings, afternoon tea, parlour games, the giving and receiving of gifts and an optional trip to Keswick to watch “A Christmas Carol” in the Theatre by the Lake near Derwent Water.

Many thanks to the local church communities for warmly welcoming us to services we attended in St Oswald’s, Grasmere and St Mary’s, Rydal.

The Hall feels a little bare now the decorations are down but we know it won’t be long before the corridors are bustling with laughter, music and the chatter of guests enjoying their stay in the heart of the Lake District as groups and private guests prepare to join us in 2020, the start of a new decade.

Please feel free to browse our online brochure or call the booking team to check for availability this year.
