Tutor: James Wilson

As a Presbytery Clerk I am often involved in conflict resolution and the handling of complaints and have become aware of the language of contempt and anger, of power and control, of fear and intimidation. Our emotional language is shaped by who we are, and we are is shaped by the emotional language that we hear from others past and present. I propose to use these retreats to enable those who attend to explore their own roots and early years: verbally, by exploring the scripted language of characters in novels, as Winnie the Pooh, Jungle Book, plus novels provided by the participants.

The Rev. James Wilson is Chaplain and Chair of the Bridge Pastoral Foundation. He is a Minister of the Church of Scotland and serves an impoverished community in Dundee. He has been Presbytery Clerk for 13 years and was ordained in 1986. He has an interest in Pastoral Care and Counselling and has been a member of the Clinical Theology Association since 1986. He is an authorised Tutor and a Senior Group Facilitator and he currently serves as the UK Chairman and as Treasurer for the Scottish Section.
