Who is it for?
This walking break is for those who are quite fit and active and are used to walking several miles in a day. Expect to be out and about for 5-6 hours on Saturday and 4-5 hours on Sunday.
Although for licensed outdoor activity groups, the ‘rule of six’ does not apply, we have chosen to keep our group to six including the walk leader to ensure the safest possible event and greatest peace of mind. This will be a chance to walk with others while out in the fresh air – a perfect combination for a healthy break.
Steve Lee will be the group host and leader for this event. Steve is a qualified Mountain Leader (MLTE) with extensive hill walking experience in the UK and around the world. He has led groups in the outdoors for over 30 years and remains as passionate as ever about sharing his enjoyment of the hills with others.
Everything Taken Care Of
From the moment you arrive at Rydal Hall until you leave at the end of our programme we will look after all of your needs. Enjoy comfortable surroundings and delicious home-cooked meals. Packed lunches, too, are provided for you. In the evening finish your day by relaxing in the Rydal Hall bar or in the friendly pub nearby. Of course, if you wish to opt out of any part of our busy programme so that you get some time to yourself, you are most welcome to do so.
Our walks will be based from Rydal Hall, a perfect location in the heart of the finest Lakeland scenery.
Please arrive for dinner at 6.30 pm after which there will be a short introduction to the programme.
After breakfast we will meet to depart on a walk of around 8-12 miles which we will take at a steady pace, easily manageable by those who are used to walking this distance. Our route will take in some of the best locations in the area and, at this time of year, will be mainly through lower level terrain. Our exact route will be chosen to be appropriate for the conditions and the day’s weather.
We will meet after breakfast for a walk of around 6-10 miles which we will aim to complete by mid-afternoon.
